Spring Cleaning List

So today I decided to make a Spring cleaning list for those who would like it. I printed it out for myself, laminated it and put it in my home binder. That way I can use a dry erase marker and cross things off as I do them. It makes it so much easier when I can break it down by tasks and see what I've accomplished as I go along. Before you know it you're done and the house is sparkling!

Aren't they pretty?! If you would like to download them for your own use, just click on them. They're 2 separate JPEG files. Hope you enjoy them! :)

Spring Cleaning!

Spring cleaning? Yay! Why do we love Spring cleaning, you ask? Because we know a few tips to make it just a little less hectic and alot more enjoyable. So stop shaking in your boots and hiding behind your dusty curtains and read these tips!

  1. Purge! And I cannot say this enough! Purge, purge, purge those closets! A truly clean home starts with organized closets. They clean up your space, they keep the clutter away and they clean up your mind. The best way to do this is to pull everything out of your closet and separate your things into 3 bins: keep, donate and trash. If you have a place for it, you use it and it's in good condition? Keep it! If it's too big, too small and you don't (or shouldn't) use it? Donate it! If it's full of holes and is damaged or if it just reminds you of some bad days? Trash it! Obviously there are exceptions. You don't want to throw away family heirlooms or precious memories! Easey peasey, right?
  2. Curtains dusty? Curtains don't get dirty very often and you only want to wash them when they're pretty bad. Instead of spending all of your time using the upholstery vacuum attachment put them in the dryer with a Bounce sheet! It will dust and freshen at the same time while you can spend your time doing something else. Just check to make sure that they can go in the dryer safely.
  3. Stuck-on grease and dirt in the microwave? Take a lemon, cut it in half, squeeze the juice into a bowl of water and then place the lemon halves in the bowl. Microwave the bowl for 5 minutes and watch as you easily wipe away what you couldn't before.
  4. Stubborn toilet bowl stains? Don't fret! Just drop 2 antacids in your toilet bowl for 20 minutes and walk away. This is great for stubborn toilet stains and it gives you the time to work on something else!
  5. Lime build-up on your sink faucet? Soak a rag with vinegar, wrap it around the area and fasten with a clip. Leave it on for 1 hour, take it off and dry the faucet!
Happy Spring cleaning and stay tuned for more tips and hints!

We are so THRILLED to announce...

that 2 Divas House & Pet Services is going to be on Good Day Sacramento! We spoke with Julissa Ortiz and we're going to be on Thursday the 26th of this month around 6-7am. If you had asked us a year ago if we were going to be on T.V. I would laugh so hard I would tinkle! This is so unreal and yet, with all of our hard work, love, and dedication to our clients and our business, it makes perfect sense.
We couldn't be where we are now without our wonderful clients! It's all about you guys and your furry divas, and we will make sure to give a shout out on the show!

Update!

Due to rain our appearance on Good Day Sacramento has been rescheduled. We will post the new date and time as soon as we get the go ahead!

I saw this the other day...

and it got me thinking about our dad. Our dad was a big, barrel-chested construction worker who looked tough and was a man's man. However, if you spoke with him you would immediately find out that he was a gentle, loving man with a special place in his heart for animals.
Most of my childhood memories revolve around animals: adopting them, rescuing them, taking care of them... but the most memorable day was when our dad brought home two lhasa apso puppies.
While he was leaving a construction site, he heard cries coming from a dumpster. He opened it to find two "mop puppies" who were just thrown away. Angry and hurt that someone could treat an animal with such cruelty and disregard, he took them home with the hope that we could save them. After we cleaned them up and made them comfortable, we found out that both puppies had parvo. Our dad was crushed, but he quickly told us that the puppies deserved to be treated with as much love and kindness that they could ever receive in a lifetime. He kept them warm, he petted them and spoke to them, and he watched them all night until they passed
away.  That was the character of our dad -- a man filled with compassion for all living creatures who believed that they deserve all of the love that a person could give. This is our story, we would love to hear yours.

Is Your Dog Bored?

If so, here are some excellent ways to put a hop back into their step!

1. Create an Obstacle Course - Dogs LOVE obstacle courses. They love to work, they love to play, and they always love a challenge. Creating an obstacle course in your backyard is a simple, fun, and cheap way to exercise your dog and to put some fun in their lives. Some fun things to put in it: a child's play tunnel, child's play tent, child's plastic slide, hula hoops, traffic cones (legally obtained, I hope!), child's teeter totter... your imagination is the limit! However, please make sure that what you use is safe and correctly put together. Run through the obstacle course with them and you both will have a great time AND a great bonding experience. Don't have the room or the equipment? Go to the park! A playground with no kids and your dog on a leash is a wonderful place for your dog to play and explore. Just make sure that you leave only paw prints in that sand!

2. Get a Sand Box - Let's face it -- dogs are diggers! They love to dig up gardens, lawns, carpet... if their paws can scratch through it, they'll dig! Save yourself (and your dog) the frustration and give them a sand box that will allow them to dig, hide toys, and explore. You can get children's sand boxes from home and hardware stores, toy stores, and second hand from yard sales (or Craigslist, but be careful!) Keep it filled with sand and bury their favorite toys in it... they will spend hours uncovering and reburying them! For everyone's health make sure to keep the sand box clean and closed until it is time to play.

3. Play Hide and Seek - Indoors or outdoors, hide and seek is always fun! Use a Kong filled with treats or their favorite toy and hide it in a random area (don't forget where!) and let them search for it. They'll have a lot of fun searching and in the end there is always a surprise! Throw in even more of a challenge by using multiple treats and toys, or create some competition by having someone else hide them and see if you can find them before your dog -- end with a good chase!

4. Play Catch! - It's simple, fun, and cheap... and it works! Dogs love catching. They love running to catch, jumping, chasing, and keep away is the best! Actively dart around, wiggle your butt, add some twists and turns and both of you will have a great time and get some awesome exercise!
